Did you know?
Morganite comes in a variety of Beryl, a clear mineral that forms in hexagonal crystals. Other varieties of Beryl include Emerald, Sapphire and Aquamarine Gemstones.
Morganite can range from hues of pale pink to coral. All the Morganite Stones we stock at Beaudell Designs are of the finest quality. Morganites have the hardness and durability to make excellent jewellery stones for daily wear. It is important to remember when comparing Morganites to Diamonds (which is a 10 on the Mohs Scale), Morganites are a softer gem, ranging from a 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs Scale. Therefore, kindly note that a Morganite gem is more delicate and prone to slight scratches over time.
What to do should my Morganite pick up slight scratches?
We have got you and your beautiful stone-covered! We would advise you to bring in your ring once every six months to a year, for a professional polish and cleaning. Should you feel that it is time for a slight polish and buffing on your Morganite, we will personally take your gem to our gemologist and assist you from thereon.
How to take care of your Morganite jewellery
A Morganite is a transparent stone, therefore it needs light to contribute to the colour and lustre of the stone.
It is very important to clean your Morganite jewellery on a regular basis to avoid the stone appearing dull.
You will need the following to give your item a new and sparkly feel:
- Small glass container
- Sunlight Liquid
- Soft Toothbrush
Steps to follow when cleaning your Morganite:
- The best way to clean your Morganite jewellery is to make a solution with warm water and a few drops of sunlight liquid.
- Soak your ring for about 10 minutes, and gently brush the stone with a very soft toothbrush.
- Rinse under running warm water once done.
- Gently Wipe down your jewellery item with a soft cloth.
How often should I clean my ring?
There is no set time-frame as to how often you need to clean your jewellery items. This all depends on the lifestyle you lead. We always advise clients to try and clean their Morganite two to three times a week.
Another tip to keep in mind, when travelling, separate your jewellery in their own pouch to avoid unnecessary scratches.
Kindly note that you are always more than welcome to visit our studio for a proper polish and cleaning. We would love to have a coffee with you while you wait!
What not to do:
We always advise our clients to refrain from wearing their jewellery items while doing intense activities such as playing sports, moving heavy objects or when working with harsh chemicals. This tip does not only apply to Morganite jewellery, but to any accessories made from precious metals.
Lastly, remember to enjoy every moment of your piece, wear it with pride and confidence.
